Cooking Pasta

It’s no question that cooking pasta is very simple but here are some easy rules to make this great italian food gift soar.


Recipe for italian Pasta -
my easy cooking rules

Cook pasta in plenty of water. Every pound (1/2 kilo)
of pasta needs 10 pints (5 litres) of salted water (2 tbsp)


Use a high rimmed large saucepan or pot. There are
also great high rimmed past pots available, together with
an integrated strainer.


As soon as the water boils put the pasta in and stir with
a wooden fork.


Cooking time depends on the quality and shape of the pasta.
This can vary between 3 and maximum 13 minutes.
The best you can do is following the indications on the package.

When the cooking time is over - taste it to see if it is
"al dente". Al dente means firm but not hard, mushy or chewy
– pour it in a strainer or colander. Please take care
not to burn yourself or your children.


At last pour the pasta into a serving bowl and stir well
with the sauce of your choice.

Additional Special Tips:

If the pasta sauce you are using is not very liquid, reserve a cup of the remaining cooking water to add, if necessary.


Cook the pasta as exact to serving time as you can. As it cools down very quickly serve it in a heated bowl or on a heated plate to support keeping it warm.
Add some oil (1 tablespoon) to the water when cooking larger pasta like lasagne or other. Long, wide and thick noodles tend to stick together when they cool down. The oil in the water prevents the pasta from sticking together..



You can avoid that pasta boils over when you put a wooden fork or spoon across the opening of the pot while cooking or better boiling pasta.
