Italian Beef Recipes

So what exactly are typical Italian beef recipes? Well, basically all it is are thin slices of roast beef that have been slowly seasoned and placed into an Italian style sandwich.

The meat is very tender, and therefore, is very juicy. After the sandwich is made, the bread is dipped into the juices from the meat.

And then for the delicious topping, it is usually topped with hot or sweet peppers.

Italian Style Pepper Steak

Ingredients:
• 1/2 tsp salt, divided
• 1/2 tsp pepper, divided
• 1 tsp Italian seasoning, divided

• 1 pound sirloin steak (boneless beef), fat trimmed
• 1 sweet red pepper, julienned
• 1 sweet yellow pepper, julienned
• 1 onion, julienned
• 5 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounce), drained br> • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

Directions:
1. Combine 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper in a small bowl. Rub this mixture over both sides of the steak; put aside.

2. Use a large nonstick skillet and sauté the onion, garlic and peppers in oil until vegetables are crisp-tender. Add tomatoes salt and pepper and remaining Italian and stir. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes on medium heat. Remove from the heat and stir in vinegar; keep it warm.

3. Put steak on a broiler pan. Coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Broil on medium heat for on each side until the meat reaches desired doneness (4 - 8 minutes). Let the beef stand for 5 minutes before slicing; serve it with the vegetable mixture.
