Panettone Recipes

To know some great Panettone recipes could be a great idea. Why panettone?

When it comes to finding the perfect gift to give, there is nothing better than giving something that you made yourself.

Everyone loves to receive gifts that truly had a lot of heart and soul put into it. And since everyone loves pastries, there is no better gift to give than that of panettones.

While that is easy to understand, it may be a little more complicated to come up with a panettone recipe that is perfect enough to use as a gift for that special someone on your gift list.

Important Preparation Tips for panettone recipes

When preparing your panettone recipe, it is important to remember to sprinkle the dough with lemon and orange zest in order to achieve the perfect taste.

You will also need to watch how much flour you use or you could end up making it too stiff or too sticky by using too little. It is also important that you are really paying attention to the time that you are allowing the dough to rise. Make sure that you are giving it the full thirty minutes but do not short it on time.

The Ingredients You Need To Start:

• 1 package of active dry yeast
• 5 tablespoons of softened butter
• 2 large eggs
• 4 additional large egg yolks
• ¼ cup warm water
• ¾ cups of sugar
• ½ cup warm water
• 2/3 cup raisins
• 2 teaspoons of grated lemon peel
• 5 cups of flour
• 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
• ½ cups of chopped citron

The Preparation

You are going to want to make sure that you dissolve the yeast into the ¼ cup of warm water that you had set aside. Allow the yeast to stand for about ten minutes. Then in a large bowl, you will want to beat the 2 whole eggs and 4 egg yolks, sugar, butter, vanilla, and the ½-cup of water together. Make sure that you are mixing it well and then add in the yeast mixture.

While working the spoon through the mixture you will want to add about 1 & ½ cups of flour at a time. Keep mixing until the mixture becomes a ball of dough. Once that happens, you can take the dough and place it on a clean and prepared work surface, kneading it for about ten minutes. Then coat lightly with butter and then cover with a clean cloth and allow it to rise for about six hours.

The mold should be about seven inches tall and up to eight inches wide. Now it is time to punch the dough down and then turn it out onto a nicely floured surface. This is the time to sprinkle lemon and orange zest over it. In a small bowl, you will want to mix the citron, 1 tablespoon of flour, and lemon and then sprinkle that mixture over the dough.

After folding the dough in half and pressing the edges to a seal, you will knead for about ten minutes. Add flour as needed in order to make sure that the dough remains non-sticky. Once ready, place the dough in a mold and then cover with a clean cloth and allow it to rise for up to thirty minutes.

How to bake

Now that the preparation is done, it is time to preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Before placing the dough into the oven, cut an x on the top. Bake for five minutes and then reduce the heat by twenty-five degrees for ten minutes.

And then you will want to reduce the heat once again another twenty-five degrees and bake for another thirty minutes. You will know it is done if a toothpick can go into the center and come out clean.
